Northern Cape – Working for the Coast

Description: A 2-year coastal management project for two municipalities within the Northern Cape: Alex, Port Nolloth and Hondeklipbaai. We were tasked with identifying, training and employing local residents to clean up 23 km’s of beaches, rehabilitate tourism nodes and institute a coastal management programme

Employment 44 full time staff and 16 part time staff (December and Easter breaks)
Training Induction and training on Occupational Health and Safety for all staff. Achieved 177 training days, 11% more than budgeted for
Impact Enrolled staff in counseling for alcohol abuse; adult basic education and lifeguard training
Our social responsibility We taught computer skills, paid for staff to attain their driver’s license and for children’s school fees
Hands on Approach Port Nolloth and Hondeklipbaai are only accessible via Cape Town (580km) and Uppington (500km). 10 visits within 13 months, with each trip lasting a minimum of 4 days

North West – Youth Jobs in Waste

Description: A 2-year waste management awareness project for the North West municipalities. We were tasked with identifying, training and employing youth aged 18-35 years to perform waste management, landfill site administration, landfill guards and infrastructure development to support these activities.

Employment 384 full time youth for waste management
Training Induction and training on Occupational Health and Safety for all staff and accredited training (20 days of theoretical work and practical) provided by SETA accredited service providers
Impact SA has the 3rd highest global youth unemployment rate, Mobaarak provided job opportunities and trained 384 unemployed youth
Hands on Approach With19 municipalities spread throughout the North West we conducted routine visits once every 2 months.

KZN – Youth Jobs in Waste

Description: A 1-year waste management awareness project for KZN municipalities. The Mobaarak team were tasked with identifying, training and employing youth aged 18-35 to perform waste management, landfill site administration, landfill guards and infrastructure development to support these activities.

Employment 773 full time youth for the waste management KZN project.
Training Induction and training on Occupational Health and Safety for all staff and accredited training (20 days of theoretical work and practical) provided by SETA accredited service providers
Impact SA has the 3rd highest global youth unemployment rate. Mobaarak provided job opportunities and trained 773 unemployed youth and 33 one year- long employment contracts for disabled youth.

FS – Illegal Dumping and Establishment of Landfill Site

Description: A 2-year waste management awareness project. We were tasked with identifying, training and employing young people aged 18-35 yrs. to clear out illegal dumping sites and then to establish a landfill site for the safe administration of waste within the area
